How it all Began

To start at the beginning, when I was young my mother was researching some family history and was in contact with a distant cousin, named Van Buren Lamb, who was also a genealogist.
He was the end of a family line with no descendants. After corresponding with my mother for many years and becoming friends, he left her some family heirlooms and some stories.  For many years we would take these items to school for show and tell; a spinning wheel, some homemade socks, a clothespin, a civil war sword and some medals.

The story was told that two brothers fought for the civil war; one for the north and one for the south.  One was captured and the other helped him escaped.  I was intrigued and have been hooked on family history since.  I have always had a desire to share what I have unearthed and I finally am.  So here are the stories, pictures, documents and people I have  discovered, along with problems and questions I am still working on.
